Screen printing is a method of printing graphics onto t-shirts using think inks. The finish can be a thick and bold design and will have a soft feeling when touched. Screen printing

This printing method is also known as silk screen printing. Screen printing is a versatile method for decorative and functional applications. When using this approach flexibility and expertise are a must. It is suited for vibrant designs and best done in bulk. It is versatile and there are almost no limits on what substrates can be printed on. Most people think screen printing is for shirts only. However, it can be used on flags, banners, signs, jackets and bags. The screen printing process

After the artwork is complete, the design is taken to have all of the colours separated out. The colours are then printed onto a transparent film. The plastic film then needs to be transferred to a screen mesh which will be pulled tightly with a frame put around it. This mesh used to be made out of silk now it is made from polyester. The film will then be covered in emulsion. When the film is attached to the mesh the image is burned onto the mesh by shining a light on it. After burning the artwork into the mesh. The emulsion needs to be washed off which will result in a replica of your design left on the mesh. This process needs to be repeated for every colour in the design. When the screens are ready they can be printed. The screen is placed about the t-shirt and the ink is squeezed through the screen. Finally, the ink sets on the item and it is left to dry.

Every product has a unique printed label or design these can be transparent or have a prominent look. This can be achieved through screen printing which can provide opacity for dark surfaces. Screen printing finishes can be high gloss or matt which will create attractive results which are fast drying, durable and have resistance to packaging and mechanical strain.
